* NEW * Lynwood Soul Vol. 4, Rare Street Soul Stories

Another sweet soul packed monster of a compilation from Lynwood Soul's incredible vinyl record collection. This guy does his homework and puts together comps with rare tracks that will even surprise the seasoned collector. Tight soul ballads by The Deltones Ltd., Vass Corp., The Soul Walkers, The Velons and others. Sound quality varies as all tracks are straight from vinyl sources. A must have for any serious soul harmony aficionado.

Music City Vocal Groups

Early R&B sounds out of the San Francisco bay area that like the Flash Records compilation brings to light long lost cuts known only to the hardcore collectors. Highlights include "Your True Love Is Standing by" by Wanda Burt And The Crescendos, "All The Days Of My Life" by The Chantels (male group), "There's A Girl" by The Italics and "Your Eyes" by The Echotones.

The Flash Records Story

Early R&B from Los Angeles with a heavy blues influence. I did not care much for the first disc. On the second disc there are a few nice cuts by The Cubans, "Don't Go Baby", "Can't You See" and "Tell Me (Will You Ever be Mine)". Top notch sound quality and plenty of liner notes.

The Charts

"Deserie" is one of the most cherished Doo Wop tracks ever recorded. The Charts did not record much but do have some solid ballads apart from the previously mention cut; "Why Do You Cry", "My Diane" and "You're The Reason". An absolute must have for the Doo Wop fan.

A couple of outstanding cuts on this CD, "The Stars" by The Ocapellos and "The Vows Of Love" by The Paragons. Also worth the mention is "Love No One But You" by The Jesters. Sound quality is very good throughout the entire CD.

Jamaican Doo wop

I thought for sure this CD would have been better but it was not to be. Highlights are "Enchanters Serenade" by The Melody Enchanters and "Tu-Woo-Up-Tu-Woo" by The Jiving Juniors. Sound quality varies.

Standard classic cuts here by The Desires, The Heartbeats, The Pastels, Shep And The Limelites and The Legends. A solid addition to your Doo Wop collection.

The Ebb Records Story

Volume 1 contains a couple of really nice, rare ballads. Volume 2 leans more on the blues and uptempo side for me. Highlights include "Dearest" by The Tempo-Mentals, "There In The Might" by The M&M's and "Heavenly Escort" by The 5 Orleans. On Volume 2 the last track "You Fascinate Me" by Tony Harris is decent.

The Golden Era Of Doo-Wops, Timely Records

Very early R&B sounds on this CD. It will take a serious fanatic to appreciate these recordings. The sound here was a bit too early for my liking.

The Ly-Dells And Friends

"Dear Someone" by The Rock-A-Fellas is the sole highlight here. A wonderful ballad that, for me more than justified this purchase.
