Liberty Belles

One of those picks up that just did not turn out so good. The best tracks are by Baby Washington. You are much better off picking up one of her compilations,

The Valentinos

Really enjoy listening to "Don't Go Away" on this release but, nothing else comes close to it. It also contains the original "It's All Over Now" which was made famous by The Rolling Stones.

The First Take Is The Deepest

Early deep soul tracks by Bobby Marchan, Joe & Ann, John Beasley and Earl King. Not a compilation for everyone. Solid pick up is you enjoy raw, early, southern R&B. Excellent sound quality.

The Golden Age Of American Rock'N'Roll: Special "Bubbling Under" Edition

A collection of songs that nearly made it big. My obsession with good sound quality had me picking this one up for "Holy One" by Freddy Fender. Classics by The Metallics and Joe & Ann also included. Rest of the material is too much on the pop side for my tastes.

Caribbean R&B Classics

Early R&B classics that enjoyed air play in Jamaica on the Modern and RPM labels. Highlights include tracks by Jesse Belvin. Marvin And Johnny, The Teen Queens, The Cliques and The Jacks. Top notch sound quality.

25 Doo-Wop Series

A nice Doo Wop collection for those casual oldies fans or the ones just starting to get into this genre. Pretty much all the standard tunes we hear on many other compilations. Sound quality is very good.

The Percells

I opted to go with the legit CD release to ensure best possible sound quality and since "Cheek To Cheek" is for me, by far their best ballad. The rest of the material is more mainstream pop.

The Little Rock Sound 1965-69

No exactly a compilation you see and think about picking up for a soul ballad. Indeed it does contain two solid blue-eyed soul ballads in "Love Me Right Know" and "Can I Believe" by The Egyptians. Other notable tracks include "Way-Down Feelin'" by Dutch Masters and "Something Special" by Merging Traffic. Solid sound quality and highly recommended for blue-eyed soul music fans.

The Ebon-Nights

Got this one at a bargain price. Played it and realized why it was a bargain. Early R&B that is not for most. Safe to pass this one up.

The Royals

This gamble did not pay off for me. Let this one go to the hardcore early R&B fan. If you are looking for the Doo Wop ballad to cruise to, you will not find it here. "Partners For Life" and "What Did I Do" are decent but not enough to recommend.
