Carrie Cleveland

Nice laid back, jazzy ballads by this bay area artist highlighted by the title track "Looking Up". Other notable tracks include "Take A Moment" and "I've Got A Feeling".

The South Side Of Soul Street

"Take This Hurt Off Me" by Big John Hamilton set the bar so high the rest of the tracks just could not come close. Other note worthy tracks include "I Can't Use You" by The Double Soul and "I've Got To Tell You" by Count Willie. The rest is deep, deep southern soul.

Tearjerkers And Heartbreakers, A Collection Of Deep, Deep Soul

Highlights here include "I Wake Up Crying" by Chuck Jackson, the original "Talk To Me" by Little Willie John, "My Confession Of Love" by Donnie Elbert and "Nobody Cares (About Me)" by Baby Washington. I would have mentioned "The Town I Live In" but it is the re-sung version and should have been stated as such.

The Best Of Hermitage Records

Joe And Ann's "Eternity" drove me to this CD. Can't say I enjoyed the rest of it. Sound quality varies.

The Best Of The Rarest Doo Wop

With artists such as the Yeomans, The Dells, The Dontells and Porgy And The Monarchs I was more than sure this release wound contain a few oddball ballads........I was wrong. Nothing on this set can make me recommend to anyone who is seeking ballads.

Tarheel Slim & Little Ann

If you like more of a bluesy sound to your R&B, this duo delivers. Highlights include "Bless You, My Darling", "It's Too Late", "Can't Stay Away" and "You're Gonna Reap". Very good sound quality.

The Vintage Doo Wop Story

A killer at the beginning in "Whoever You Are" by The Deltairs and another at the end in "I've Waited So Long" by The Sharmeers are the brightest spots on this compilation. The rest has more of a pop sound. Sound quality varies.

Rhythm 'N' Blues

A nice treat of early R&B rarities with top notch sound quality. Highlights include "I Do Believe" by The Crystals, "Hopin' For Your Return" by The Savoys, "Darling Please" by The Bees, "Is It Too Late" by The Fidelitones and "Love Me" by The Avalons. Not for the casual oldies fan, leave this one for the most serious early R&B / Doo Wop fans.

Pittsburgh's Favorite Oldies "At The Hop"

Lots and lots of music, nice ballads but mainly up beat numbers. The slow songs are pretty much standard tracks such as "Baby Baby All The Time" by The Superbs, "Moonlight" by The Admirations, "This Can't Be True" by Eddie Holman, "I Want A Boyfriend (Girlfriend)" by The Soul-Mates, "Each Night" by Rochell And The Candles, "Keeper Of Dreams" by The Gallahads, "Have You Ever Told Her" by Billy Sol, "Need Your Love" by The Metallics, "We Belong Together" by Robert And Johnny, "Gee Baby" by Joe And Ann, "Kiss My" by George Jackson, "I'm So Young" by The Students, "What Can I Do" by Donnie Elbert and "Please Answer" by The Heartbreakers. Good sound quality but getting very expensive to acquire.
