A few nice ballads in this two disc set. A very nice package but the music did not do much for me. If you nice the uptempo sounds of the Cleftones or Frankie Lymon this will be a safe pick up. Ifyou are looking for that killer Doo Wop ballad it will not be found here.

Standard Doo Wop ballads by The Five Satins, The Rays, The Moonglows, The Heartbeats and others we are much familiar with. A good pick up for the casual Doo Wop fan. All tracks can be found on many other compilations. Sound quality on the first volume is not as good as the second release.

If you are looking at picking up a CD on The Meadowlarks spend a little extra and get the Ace Records release. The overall packaging and most importantly sound quality is far better. Highlights include "Untrue", "Please (Say You Love Me)", "Please Love A Fool" and "Heaven And Paradise". A must for any Doo Wop fan.

Here is the latest release by the folks at The Numero Group. Killer cuts by The Four Mints, The Chandlers, Jupiter's Release, La Fez and Love Maximum. These guys know how to put the complete package together when highlighting these obscure soul labels. Lots of liner notes and as always no complaints on the sound quality. A must for the rare soul fan.

Every few years we have seen a new Superbs release with just a couple more extra tracks forcing us collectors to pick up that latest release. Highlights from one of Los Angeles' best soul group include "Baby, Baby Al The Time", "Baby's Gone Away", "Your Eyes", "The Story Book Of Love", "It Hurts So Much" and a few others. A must have for the soul music fan.

Top notch sound quality, good batch of liner notes.

Stax Sirens & Volt Vamps

"Love Changes" by Charlene & The Soul Serenaders is a killer jam well worth the price of this CD. Only a couple other notable tracks by The Charmells and Jean Knight round this one up.
