Mary Wells

I don't think there is a need to mention any highlights when it comes to Mary Wells' music recordings. Any self respecting soul fan needs no introduction to Motown's best female artist. This is a must for any music collection.

Martha Reeves And The Vandellas

You have to buy multiple CD's to gather up the good cuts by this fine female soul group. Highlights include "A Love Like Yours (Don't Come Knocking Every Day)", "Give Him Up", "Jealous Lover", "Love (Makes Me Do Foolish Things)" and "If You Don't Want My Love".

Dana Valery

Decent covers of  tracks made famous by The Chi-Lites. "Oh Boy", "Have You Seen Him" and the best one in my opinion, "I'm Gonna Pay You Back".

The Independents

I just had to pick this one up as it was sure to have better sound quality that the Collectables Records release I have on an earlier post. Top notch sound quality and liner notes. Highlights include "Leaving Me", "It's All Over" and "Baby I've Been Missing You". Recommended for the mellow 70's soul music fan.

Good All Over

If you have The Westbound Sound Of Detroit CD then you have all the good tracks that appear on this release. Highlight include "I Don't Know How (To Say I Love You)" by The Superlatives, "Mommy And Daddy" and "Does He Treat You Better" by Unique Blend, "What I'm I Gonna Do" by The Houston Outlaws, "I'll Make It Up To You" by The Magictones and "I'm Loving You You're Leaving Me" by The Motivations. Solid sound quality.

East Of Underground: Hell Below

A grad this three disc package because the price was too good to ignore. Decent tracks by The Black Seeds and The Sound Trek but I really don't care much for live recordings. The East Of Underground CD I had previously posted and has the killer cover of "I Love You For All Seasons".

Soul Classics Quiet Storm

Standard 70's jams by well known acts such as Bloodstone, Peaches and Herb and a few others. A good and cheap CD for the occasional fan or one just staring to build up a collection.

California Soul

This release counts with one outstanding ballad in "When I Had You, Baby" by The Soul Sensations. All else is upbeat. You are better off picking this jam up on Lost Soul Oldies volume 1.

Jack Ashford Just Productions

A few solid slow jams in this release by Ace Records. Highlights include "Don't Worry" by The Smith Connection, "Crying Clown" by Billy Sha-Rae, "Don't Take Your Love" by The Magnificents and "Don't Leave Me Baby" by Ray Gant And The Arabian Knights.
