Barbara Lewis

The latest compilation on Barbara Lewis, but one that covers all but "The Many Grooves Of" LP. Lost of material but highlights remain the same as with other releases; "Pushing A Good Thing Too Far", "Spend A Little Time", "If You Love Her" and her classic "Hello Stranger". Top notch sound quality but can't give a higher rating due to the fact all highlights are available on her other compilations.

Ronnie I's Favorite Love Ballads

A must for the Doo Wop fans. Excellent sound quality as with other Clifton Music releases. Nice ballads by The Timetones, The Elgins, The Execs, The Emblems and The Squires.

Golden Doo Wops

A lot of odd ball, long forgotten tracks make up this compilations. Highlights include "Sad And Broken Hearted" by Dora Tapp, "Baby Baby" by The Five Stars, "Some Other Guy" by Frankie Ervin & The Shields, "Drip Drop On My Pillow" by Charles Wright, "I'm A Fool (In Love)" by L.H. & The Memphis Sounds, "You're Laughing At Me" by Bobby Maxwell & The Exploits, "You're The Reason" by The Charts and "It's No Good" by The Mandells. As expected with such rare material the sound quality varies.

Spotlite on Roulette Records

A couple of solid ballads in "She Wasn't Meant For Me" by The Shells and "Wedding Bells" by Tiny Tim & The Hits make this a recommended pick up for the Doo Wop fan. Other notable tracks by more popular artists of the era such as The Heartbeats and The Turbans, The Cleftones and The Edsels round out the good tracks on this compilation. Very good sound quality.

Laurie Vocal Groups, The Doo Wop Sound

"Daddy's Going Away Again" by The Harps is a beautiful ballad worth the price of this CD. The rest of the material leans more towards the pop side than the R&B side where  my passion resides.

The Viscaynes & Friends

"Eight Reasons Why" by The Precisions, "Without Success" by The Individuals, "Heavenly Angel" and "A Long Time Ago" by The Viscaynes are my top picks here. Very good sound quality. Will make a nice addition to those Sly Stone fans looking for his early material.

The Falcons

Took a gamble hoping to find a solid ballad or two, but no such luck. The classic "You're So Fine" is the sole highlight for me. There are a couple ballads in this release but not strong enough for me to recommend you picking this one up. Solid sound quality.

Nice batch of classics by The Atlantics, The Bagdads, The Penguins, Little Caesar & The Romans, Sonny Knight, The Torreadors. A nice addition to your Doo Wop music collection. Sound quality varies.

The "5" Royales

"Tears Of Joy" and "Dedicated To The One I Love" are the top picks on this compilation. As for the rest of the material, most slow ballad seekers will not appreciate. Leave this on to the the dedicated early R&B fans. Great sound quality.
