Good For Nothin', The Vogue Records Story


"Need You Tonight" by The Minor Bops was what sold me on this CD. Other notable tracks by Johnny Ace, Shirley And Lee, Gene And Eunice, The Tantones and The Lovers. Good pick up for those dedicated Doo Wop fans.

All In My Mind, The Wand Records Story


Standard tracks by Lee Andrews And The Hearts, Maxine Brown, The Titones, Bette Watts and Shep And The Limelites. Sound quality is a bit poor on some of the tracks.

Classic tracks by The Five Satins, Dean And Gene and The Smooth Tones. Lots of upbeat numbers.

Ding Dong, The Gee Records Story


"I'm Willing" by The Quintones is good and the rest are pretty standard. You will not miss out on much skipping this one, especially if you have some of the releases on the Collectables label.

Good tracks by Yvonne Baker And The Sensations, The Ravens, The Orbits, The Pastels, The Students and Myles And Dupont. Recommended for the dedicated Doo Wop fan.

Highlights here include the classic "Night Owl" by Tony Allen And The Chimes, "Arlene" by The Titans, "I'm Leaving It Up To You" by Don And Dewey, "Open Up Your Heart" by Eugene Church and Group and "Our Romance" by Clydie King.

Gangster Of Love, The Apt Records Story


Big standout here for me was "Love And Happiness" by The Richettes. Other good tracks include "On My Mind" by The Darts, "Come And Love Me" by Davey Jones and "Trusting In You" by The Madison Brothers.

The highlight tracks here are by The Teen Queen, Little Clydie And The Teens and The Jacks. early R&B sounds, not recommended the casual oldies fan or one seeking sweet soul harmony.

Very, very nice track in "Who Would Have Thought It" by The Deltairs included in this compilation. Other notable tracks by The Five Fleets and The Casualteens. Leave this one for the serious Doo Wop fans.

Three tracks drove this purchase, "Always On My Mind" by Johnnie Morisette, "The Smile" by The Sims Twins and "Never, Never" by Johnnie Taylor. I skipped through the rest of the material rather quickly.

I'm Ready, The Modern Story



You will have to be a hardcore early R&B lover to truly enjoy this compilation. Highlights include tracks by The Cliques, The Cobras, Jesse Belvin and Jimmy Beasley.
