The Fiestas

If you are looking for ballads then The Fiestas is not for you. "Last Night I Dreamed", "Come On And Love Me" and "Our Anniversary" are decent but not outstanding. You will not miss much passing this disc up.

Sure Shots Of Soul

You win some, you lose some. The tracks by The Malibus caught my eye so I decided to take a chance and got burned. There is nothing on this disc that I can tag as a highlight. Definitely a pass.

The Ad Libs & Friends

I picked this disc up solely for "The La La Song" by Roddie Joy. The rest was popcorn oldies that I skipped through gather quickly.
The Roddie Joy track gets a 10 out of 10. The rest of the disc gets a 1 out of 10.

The Gifts Meet The Pacesetters

A highly recommended release packed with killer sweet soul jams! Pick this one up, you will not be disappointed.

The Starlighters

A good look at the late Van McCoy's early work. Highlights include "Mr. D.J.", "It's Twelve O'Clock", "Girls Are Sentimental" and "Come Back To Me". Liner notes and excellent sound quality.
7 out of 10.

Ronnie Walker

The first track it a killer sweet soul jam but unfortunately it does not hit another high point through the rest of the disc. "I'm Saying Goodbye" and "This Is My Prayer" are decent tracks. Excellent sound quality and liner notes.

The Ideals

Nice pick up with some good solid ballads. Highlights include "Don Juan", "Together", "Tell Her I Apologize" and "You Hurt Me". The sound quality does vary but still recommended.

Classic Memories

Good tracks but a re-shuffle job. Sound quality varies.

The Best Of Underground Souldies

The vast portion of the tracks on these two discs are repeats. Sprinkled in are also a few lousy tracks probably used as fillers.
3 out of 10.

Shirley And Lee

Early R&B sides by Shirley and Lee with lots of uptempo tracks. This CD is not recommended for all, especially if you are more into 60's and 70's slow ballads. Leave this one for the hardcore Doo Wop fans. Above average sound quality.
5 out of 10.

Overdose Souldies

Fair share of repeats but overall a good compilation. A mix of slow ballads and mid tempo cuts. Sound quality varies.

Jackie Ross

After the first three tracks the rest started to sound the same to me. "Selfish One" is the big hit with a couple of other sound alike tracks but not much after that.
4 out of 10.

The Vontastics

The strongest track here by far is "No Love For Me". There are a couple of other marginal tracks like "Peace Of Mind" and "I'm The One You Need". Sound quality varies.

John Ellison And The Soul Brothers Six

"I Don't Want To Cry", "Let Me Get Next To You" and "You're My World" are the highlights here. The rest of the material is uptempo or deep/southern soul.
4 out of 10.

The Escorts

Moslty all covers by The Escorts. The 2 disc set or greatest hits comp will set you up well with their material.

Rare Stax Vocal Groups

At the time of its relase it was sought for the few rare soul ballads it contained but has long since been out shined by other releases.

McKinley Mitchell

"I'm So Glad" and "The Town I Live In" are the highlights here. I did not care much for the rest of the material.
4 out of 10.

The Marvelows

Overall a good look at The Marvelows. Missing from this compilation is "Wait, Be Cool" and "You're Breaking My Heart". A recommended addition to your collection.
7 ouy of 10.

The Brothers Of Soul

A must for the soul fan. Besides the title track "One Minute Baby" and "You Better Believe It" are solid tracks.
8 out of 10.

Latin Oldies

I found myself hitting the skip button on these quite often. There are tracks by Latin artists but the majority of the good tracks are from popular soul singers within the low rider community. The good tracks are all repeats.
